From 1 to 9 June 2026, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (CCIS) is organising an outgoing business delegation to Latin America, namely to Argentina and Chile, in cooperation with the public agency SPIRIT Slovenia, the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Argentina.
The delegation brings together 10 Slovenian companies from various sectors, including advanced technologies, energy, industry, logistics, and ICT.
The delegation will carry out an intensive programme in Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and Santiago, including three business forums, numerous B2B meetings, networking events, and visits to leading companies and institutions such as PROM Argentina, Unión Industrial Argentina, Cámara Argentina de Comercio y Servicios, MercadoLibre, and IMPSA.
The visit confirms the strategic interest of the Slovenian economy in Latin America. Argentina is considered the second-largest national economy in South America after Brazil and offers opportunities particularly in the fields of energy, mining, agri-technology, and IT. Chile, as one of the region’s most stable economies, stands out in mining, renewable energy, logistics, and advanced technologies.
As part of the visit, GZS will further strengthen institutional cooperation. In addition to the business forums, the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) is planned, contributing to the further development of economic ties.
An important role in strengthening connections is also played by the Slovenian community in Argentina, especially the Slovenian-Argentine Chamber of Commerce, which has traditionally fostered relations between the two countries.
Argentina: A Promising Market for Slovenian Companies
Argentina is one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of soybeans, corn, wheat, and beef, while energy, mining, and manufacturing also play an important role in the economy. In recent years, the country has been implementing reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, boosting exports, and attracting investment, although inflation, macroeconomic stability, and economic diversification remain key challenges.
For Slovenian companies, particularly attractive opportunities can be found in the agri-food industry, especially in technologies, equipment, and the digitalisation of agriculture, as well as in the energy sector, particularly in oil, gas, and renewable energy projects. The mining sector also remains highly promising, especially in lithium and other critical raw materials, along with logistics, ICT, and other high-value-added services.
Chile: A Market with Great Potential
Chile’s economy is considered one of the most stable and developed in Latin America, based on an open market model, strong institutions, and a broad network of free trade agreements. The country is the world’s largest producer of copper and a significant producer of lithium, making opportunities in mining, related technologies, and environmental solutions particularly attractive for Slovenian companies.
Renewable energy also offers significant potential due to Chile’s accelerated transition towards a low-carbon economy. At the same time, the country is encouraging the development of logistics, ICT, and other high-value-added industries in order to reduce dependence on raw material exports.
