OnaVe organisation started the week approaching International Women’s Day on March 8 with a strong message.
On March 3rd, in the House of the EU, together with the Focus Association for Sustainable Development and the European Commission in Slovenia, the discussion was held to get the answers on questions how to encourage greater involvement of women in STEM and energy.
The guest of honor who opened the discussion was Head of the EU Commission in Slovenia, Ms. Jerneja Jug Jerse.
Key messages of the event:
▪️Mateja Malnar Štembal, president ONA VE: It’s never too early to promote knowledge – girls need visible role models.
▪️Dr. Igor Papič, Minister of Higher Education: Slovenia has the untapped potential of girls in technical professions.
▪️Dr. Dejan Paravan, general manager of GEN energija: Diversity is the key to innovation and progress.
▪️Katjuša Šavc, Focus: Women in the energy industry are making progress – measures are needed.
▪️Edita Krajnovic, director of the company Mediade and co-founder of the project “Inženirke in inženirji bomo!: The visibility of female experts is the key to change.
After the round table, Manca Dezman, vice-president of ONA VE, took the present guests through the exhibition of pioneers of science, technology and energy, which will be on display in the EU House until the end of March.
Did you know that only 15% of the energy workforce in Slovenia is represented by women. This is not only an issue of equality, but also a missed opportunity for innovation and sustainable development. Diverse teams bring better solutions!
