On 1 and 2 September 2025, Slovenia will host four senior representatives of the European Commission, led by the High Representative and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas. Accompanying her will be European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib, and European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela. The central event of their visit will be participation in this year’s Bled Strategic Forum (BSF), which marks its 20th anniversary under the theme “A Runaway World.” At the start of the visit, the Commissioners will meet with Prime Minister Robert Golob. They will then attend the opening session of the Forum, followed by a series of bilateral meetings with Slovenian and international counterparts. In addition to bilateral activities, the Commissioners will take part in several thematic discussions at BSF, addressing pressing European and global challenges—from geopolitics and security to EU enlargement, equality, economic development, and international cooperation.
Programme highlights
Kaja Kallas will meet on 1 September with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon, before joining the Forum’s main one-on-one conversation. She will also hold meetings with Czech President Petr Pavel, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
Marta Kos will join the Leaders’ Panel and meet with business leaders and young leaders from Bosnia and Herzegovina. On September 1st she will discuss the future of EU enlargement together with Prime Minister Robert Golob, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and European Council President António Costa. The debate will focus on the challenges and opportunities of broader European integration in light of current geopolitical dynamics.
Hadja Lahbib will meet on 1 September with President Nataša Pirc Musar, Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon, and Minister of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Luka Mesec. On 2 September, she will meet Minister of Defence Borut Sajovic and join a panel on renewing multilateral humanitarian aid in times of crisis. Meetings are also foreseen with Czech President Petr Pavel, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi.
Jozef Síkela will be a keynote speaker on 1 September in discussions on international partnerships and strengthening Europe’s competitiveness in the global economy. On the same day, he will meet Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and on 2 September, he will meet Minister of the Economy, Tourism and Sport Matjaž Han.
